Procurement for the entire public administration
Our new era began in September 2019, when we started to serve the entire public administration in terms of procurement. The goal of this change is to combine procurement into larger volumes to improve efficiency and produce savings in all parts of Finland. Bringing procurement expertise together also offers opportunities to raise the level of procurement activities and make procurement more professional, responsible and digital.
2019 was a special year
Our merger with KL-Kuntahankinnat took up a lot of time at the beginning of the year. It was hard work, but we prepared for the change carefully and are now ready to respond to the resulting increased expectations.

A new joining policy was adopted for central procurement. We also started to provide central procurement and expert services for our new customers.

In 2019, Hansel was involved in procurement projects amounting to more than €1.5 billion. The value of central procurement was €900 million, and the procurement value of customer-specific tendering projects was roughly €650 million.

The joint “Hankinta-Suomi” (Procurement Finland) programme was launched to develop the management of procurement. We also helped to spread good practices in several customer projects and updated the Hilma procurement notice system.

A record number of new Hansel employees started working in September when former KL-Kuntahankinnat employees moved into the post office building. We prepared thoroughly for this new situation.

Hansel reports on its responsibility efforts in compliance with the GRI standards. Reporting is based on a materiality matrix, which was changed in the autumn of 2019 due to changes in the operating environment.
